Erik G. Smith is an attorney at After Service LLC, where he represents veterans in disability compensation cases. As a veteran himself, Erik understands the sacrifices our military service members make as well as the complexity of dealing with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
Accredited by the VA since 2021, Erik is relentless in fighting for the benefits that fellow veterans have earned. Prior to joining After Service LLC, he worked as an attorney in the VA department of a large law firm. During his time there, Erik successfully handled hundreds of cases including ones involving total disability based on individual unemployability (TDIU) and PTSD.
Before entering the legal field, Erik served as a medic in the U.S. Army. He gained substantial medical knowledge while assigned to the emergency department at Womack Army Medical Center, where he worked on both the code blue and trauma teams. Having a medical background is an asset for Erik when reviewing treatment records and evaluating VA exams.
Erik received his Bachelor of Arts from George Mason University followed by his Juris Doctor from the University of Colorado Law School in 2020, where he was the recipient of the Public Service Pledge Award. He currently resides in Colorado with his family.
